Yoga Classes
Hatha Yoga focuses on being present in whatever pose you are holding, cultivating ease, connecting with the breath, and working to calm the mind. Great for stress relief, sleeping better, keeping body supple, yet strong. Class varies depending on participants’ ability… I always go with the flow!

Somatics Movement Classes
In Somatics group class, you are taught small, conscious movements that "wake up" your brain to relearn/sense and gain control of these tight muscles. If a muscle is tight and painful, it may be difficult to first sense it and then control it. Using our hands to feel the muscle contract (get harder) and release (get softer) can assist your brain's internal sensing of your muscles softening. This internal sense is called proprioception, our ability to sense the position, orientation and movement of different parts of our body. The more we improve our proprioception, the more we can reduce pain and tension.
The Group classes are designed in a variety of different ways to support proper movement patterns. The series of classes called "Myth of Aging" goes through learning to control the muscles of the back (green light reflex), the muscles of the stomach (red light reflex) and the muscles of the waist and trunk rotation (Trauma Reflex). An extended series also includes learning to control the muscles of the hip joints, neck and shoulders and ends with learning to improve breathing and walking. Also offered are series targeted at specific areas of concern, such as hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders, or for feet, knees and pelvis.
